You mentioned that you became a United Methodist in part because of their approach to the problem of suffering…I think I have heard you mention that twice. I thought you might be interested in an essay in the Star about the 50th anniversary of the Clutter family killings in Holcomb. As you probably know, the Clutters were Methodist.
The niece who wrote a recent essay including this paragraph about the funeral:
“Although the minister, Rev. Leonard Cowan, knew the family well, his task was difficult. How can an all-powerful God let evil triumph over good? How could He have allowed this to happen? Cowan’s answer was that ‘The good purposes of God have been thwarted by sin and evil from the beginning of historical record.’ The minister likened Jesus on the cross to Herbert and Bonnie, Kenyon and Nancy at the hands of their killers. He assured us that the unquestioning faith of the family sustained them in their time of extremity.”
Forget the “Hardly-worth-it-son”. For that loud pipe sound you crave, simply change your rusty old pipes out for around $500. Here’s a link where you can shop for pipes and listen to the sound they make. http://www.baronscustom.com/
My wife and I are both bikers. I ride a Yamaha Midnight Venture and my wife rides a Honda Aero Shadow 750. “Harley want-a-be’s”? Never! No reason to pay more to enjoy the ride.
On 11/15, Adam started the service with some misguided info from an uninformed reporter, NOT from an informed, educated person.
I think that not giving a handshake to other Christians or unchurched people would be like Jesus saying they are lepers and He would not touch them.
The same day, Dilbert in the comic section of the KC Star, said what I felt was being said at church and was also said about 2 weeks earlier by another pastor.
The world has germs EVERYWHERE! It is time to think about what is supposed to be “news” and listen and think about the message.
Sorry, comments for this entry are closed at this time.
