Pastor Hamilton, greetings. In all due respect, Pastor, the absence of any reference this weekend concerning the Memorial Day honoring of our military veterans, who have given their lives during wars and conflicts since the Civil war, was most disturbing!

No Honor Guard, nor reference to our fallen, seems to me to be very much a mistake on all of the Pastors parts. The Sermon, and in respect to Pastor Smith, was more of a “pitch” for money than for the need to Honor those who are passed. We are at War Sir, and our soldiers are in Harm’s way.

I was at three services Sunday, serving on the CART Team as well as SGP. I heard some very distrubing comments around the santuary, and at the Chapel. I think the leadership of the Church has made a serious error, and those families who have lost Loved one’s, to the wars, deserve an apology for a lack of emphathy by the Pastoral staff.

In all respect and in Christ name.

Hi Adam, We chose to attend a different church with friends this past weekend. Whenever I don’t attend at COR, I look forward to catching the sermons later, online. this past sermon on GREED was an ENORMOUS disappointment!!!
You know, I sat down at my computer, all amped to learn some great things and Clayton lays out the 4 different kinds of GREED, and I’m all ears to in depth definitions of these 4 types and the intimate relation with scripture or how to avoid, recognize, overcome. Lots of good stuff….but NOOOOOOO. What I get is an infomercial on getting money out of me to give to the church!!!!
Clayton is obviously a wonderful human, who is an expert in his field….getting money for the church. This is not the first time that I have walked away from a sermon of his feeling like I have just been pitched under the guise of some other topic. Is it possible to just call Clayton’s sermons what they are??? “GIVING MONEY TO THE CHURCH.” That way the someone like myself, would expect the pitch.

However, I do see this also, as a wonderful object lesson. What I came away with is just how powerful is GREED. I felt like I was watching it in action…my church leadership’s GREED. Ever so subtle, completely convincing in its power to make humans work within denial. This was not a sermon on the SIN of GREED. This was a sermon exhibiting GREED, and just how convincing and manipulative and deceptive on one’s own mind GREED can be, even to those who would preach about it.

Ms. Fleming’s comments are right on! Preach the greed and ignore our fallen soldiers. Pastor Hamilton’s apology about the oversight was a fair response, but the fact is the Church leadership did not come through for us!
