The best definition of greed I’ve ever heard is that “greed is having things you don’t take care of.” In this throw-away world it’s hard to teach small children these values. Is there an updated definition that makes allowances for obscenely huge homes,$50k family cars,$4.00 a gallon gas, milk? Corperations stealing money from the very people working to make them the money. IE Enron, Worldcom. All the while religion is banned in schools and courthouses. This country was born & built on faith. It is our “inherited right” to be allowed to teach the basics of living a christian life to our next generation. I believe greed has brought us to this point and the price has been dear.
I don’t know if you can put a dollar amount on greed. Was Solomon greedy? How bout Job? They both had tons of stuff. I think greedy is not being content with what you have. The word says don’t be greedy for gain because Godliness with contentment is great gain. I’m sure there’s more to this, but that’s what jumps out at me right now.
You’re so right Northstar! “The price” I may not have made clear is not only monetary but values, morals, ethics, the lack of God in our schools and of all places where the gavel of “justice” falls based on truth. God is no longer welcomed in the courthouse or the classroom where our young ones are taught the “American Way”. Just what is that anymore?
