Reflections On the Previous Post

Thanks to all who responded to the last post.  For those who are Resurrection members you will have noticed that people will be joining in the conversation from across the country, including folks who’ve never been to the Church of the Resurrection.  My aim in posing the question of whether Jesus would be a Democrat or a Republican was to prime the pump a bit - to see how this blogging thing works by posing a question sure to raise divergent perspectives.  The comments pointed to the challenge we have in talking about politics, and also the need for people of faith to consider how their faith relates to politics.   The nature of blogging is that there will be comments with which I will disagree, and others with which I will agree - my aim is to resist the temptation to respond to either - the power of blogging is in allowing divergent viewpoints and inviting people to learn from one another.  To all who replied, thank you for being a part of the conversation!

I’m not a blogging fan, but try it now and then. Once, a couple of weeks ago, I blogged on a subject of great interest in the New York Times and found that all the blogs were edited for content and relativity and there was a delay before they were actually posted.

If that is a possibility for these blogging pages, it would seem to be appropriate.

I feel that if you start editing posts then you are defeating the purpose of allowing the free flow of ideas and opinions. The world isn’t edited for content or relativity as much as I would like it to be sometimes:)I’ve been a member for a few years of a Christian forum that allows non-Christians to post and sometimes reading people’s posts attacking my religious beliefs has been difficult but I can honestly say that I have always came away having learned SOMETHING.
